Brominated Epoxy Resin (abbreviated in English as BE or BEO) has gradually become widely used in industries such as electronics, automotive, office equipment, and household appliances due to its excellent electrical performance and physical mechanical properties. This product features an excellent melt flow rate, high flame retardance efficiency, exceptional thermal and light stability, and can provide the flame-retardant material with good physical mechanical properties, making it extensively used as a flame retardant for thermoplastic materials such as PBT, PET, ABS, Nylon 66, thermoplastic polyurethane, and PC/ABS plastic alloys. Brominated epoxy resin has a high bromine content, making it particularly suitable as a flame retardant for paper and fabric-based laminates. The brominated epoxy resin series can meet the flame-retardant requirements for different materials such as casting materials, impregnation materials, coatings, and adhesives. Brominated epoxy resin is divided into EP type and EC type based on the terminal group structure. The EP type has excellent weather resistance, while the EC type has good thermal performance, good flowability, good HDT (heat deflection temperature), and release properties.

Features of Brominated Epoxy Resin Application

  1. Overview

    As a flame retardant for plastics, brominated epoxy resin features low toxicity and environmental friendliness. It overcomes the drawbacks of traditional flame retardants such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers, which have poor compatibility and flowability with polymers and produce toxic compounds like brominated dioxins during combustion. It meets the flame retardant material requirements for electrical appliances, automotive, and household electronics. Electronics-grade brominated epoxy resin is mainly used to produce FR-4 type rigid boards and multilayer electrical insulating boards, enhancing the board’s UV blocking and fluorescence enhancing capabilities. High-purity solid brominated epoxy resin for electronics is mainly used in high bromine content resin systems for high-performance and high-reliability electronic fields.

  2. Structure

    Common flame retardants are generally blended and filled types, meaning the flame retardant components are physically dispersed into the plastic. When used in large amounts, the product’s performance can be compromised. KBE-type brominated epoxy resin is a reactive flame retardant, where the flame retardant is eventually integrated into the macromolecular chain of other resins, providing good flame retardant stability and low likelihood of disappearing.

  3. Storage and Transportation

    Brominated epoxy resin is stable under normal conditions. Ensure container or bag is tightly sealed when not in use. Store the product in a general dry area. Solid brominated epoxy resin should be stored as non-toxic non-dangerous goods. Liquid brominated epoxy resin should avoid direct sunlight, and be kept away from heat sources and open flames, stored as dangerous goods.

  4. Usage

    Precautions: Avoid skin and eye contact, do not inhale dust or solution. Wear appropriate work clothing, gloves, goggles, and a mask when using this product.
